Essential Oils - Safe for Pets?

As both a dog mom and a pet care provider, I’m extra careful about the essential oils I use in my home and around pets. I do love all natural products, but they can be dangerous if you are not educated on what is safe to use around pets.  Essential oils are extremely concentrated, therefore can be extremely toxic to animals, if used incorrectly.

It's important to use essential oils with caution. Certain oils such as tea tree, citrus, and peppermint can be toxic to dogs and cats. If you want to use essential oils around pets, it's always best to do so under the guidance of a veterinarian who can advise you on safe options and proper usage. Always make sure to keep essential oils out of reach of pets (like anything else), and never apply them directly to your pet's skin without consulting a professional.

In general, the below oils are pet safe and can be used accordingly

Lavender is safe for dogs. When my Molly gets anxiety I put a drop on her bedding. It's very relaxing for all! 😌

If you’re diffusing blends, you’ll want to always review the ingredients and make sure they don’t contain any dangerous oils that may compromise your pet’s safety. Essential oils can be wonderful when used for positive benefits - you just want to make sure to keep your pets safe and happy!
